FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you provide a meal plan?

No.  I believe that the best teachers are those who show you where to look but don’t tell you what to eat.  Knowledge is power!  My goal is to teach out how to eat, not tell you what to eat.  It is far more empowering if at the end of our relationship, you never need another nutrition coach again. Having said that, while you won’t receive a meal plan, I will teach you how to create your own meal plan successfully within your personalized macros, eating the foods you love and in alignment with your lifestyle.

Does my nutrition plan come with a training plan?

No. I offer nutrition coaching services ONLY and it does not come with a workout or training program. If you would like to add on a training program, I am a CrossFit Level I Coach and can program monthly HIIT/CrossFit style workouts for a $50 add-on monthly fee.

What is flexible dieting and macro counting?

Flexible dieting and macro counting is centered around eating the same foods you love, weighing the foods and drinks you consumer, all while fueling your body properly within a personalized calorie budget.  By macro counting, you can achieve aesthetic, performance, or lifestyle-related goals; whether your goal is to lose fat, maintain where you’re at, or build lean muscle and strength.  Flexible dieting and macro counting allows you to approach nutrition in an entirely different way than you may be accustomed.

There are no ‘good’, ‘clean’ or ‘bad’, foods. You do not have to deprive yourself from enjoying your favorite snacks or restrict yourself from going out to eat with friends. Flexible dieting allows you to break the cycle of restricting foods and binge eating by creating healthy eating habits focused on balance and moderation.

Is macro counting for me?

Macro counting is effective for everyone.  While it may not be the right dieting approach for you and your lifestyle, tracking the amount of energy/calories you consume is how you lose weight while in a deficit, maintain weight if not wanting to gain or lose, and to build lean mass if wanting to add on muscle.  Macro counting is a great option if you have specific goals and can put in the time and effort to achieve your goals.

How is flexible dieting and macro counting different from other diets?

Flexible dieting is centered around breaking the traditional “diet mentality” of needing to restrict yourself from the foods you enjoy in order to achieve your goals.

There are no “good” or “bad” foods, “clean” meals and “cheat” meals, and no strict rules to follow, except tracking your calorie intake. Flexible dieting and macro counting allows you to eat the foods you want when you want them and helps you focus on building healthy habits at the same time.

Does flexible dieting mean I get to treats all the time?

Nah! The idea behind flexible dieting and macro counting is that you fuel your body with the macronutrients it needs to thrive. Eating calorie-dense foods will leave you hungrier than if you consumed nutrient-dense foods. Balance is the key.  I advocate for an 80/20 split; 80% whole nutritious foods and 20% treats or other types of foods, but that is not a hard-fast rule.  Some people prefer 70/30 or 90/10, the points is, flexible dieting and macro counting allows you to make that choice.

My goal is to teach and show you through action that healthy individuals don’t need restrict foods.  Let’s break the stereotype of food restrictions and bad vs good foods.  That mentality rarely encourages an individual to adhere to their diet plan.  If you want a treat, a dessert, or a meal out, you can have it as long as you make it work within your macro goals.

Do you work with all types of people?

Yes, absolutely! Flexible eating with macro counting is a great strategy for weight loss, weight maintenance, and lean muscle mass building. Whether you're an elite athlete, a busy professional, wanting to lose weight, or just looking to improve your health, I can help you accomplish your goals.

Do I have to workout if I count macros?

No, you do not. I'm in the business of creating healthy dietary habits, and although a workout program can be an added benefit to leading a healthy lifestyle, it's not a requirement to working with us.
